'AIRIS 2025' to Open on September 10 to Discuss AI Medical Product Regulation

Keynote by Nobel Laureate David Baker; Experts from Around the World to Participate

The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety announced on August 11 that it will co-host the 'International Artificial Intelligence (AI) Medical Product Regulatory Symposium' (AIRIS 2025) with the World Health Organization (WHO) from September 10 to 12 at the Inspire Hotel in Incheon.

This event, held under the theme 'Global AI Regulatory Harmonization: Shaping the Future Together,' will bring together regulatory authorities, industry representatives, and academic experts from various countries to discuss technological trends and innovative cases related to AI medical products, as well as to share experiences in regulation and product approval.


On the first day of the event, David Baker, professor at the University of Washington and recipient of last year's Nobel Prize in Chemistry, will deliver the keynote address. Other participants include Seoul National University professor Baek Minkyoung, Parexel International Vice President Tala Fakouri, and experts from global healthcare companies.


On the second day, regulatory officials from various countries will give presentations on the theme of 'AI Regulatory Frameworks: Best Practices and Lessons Learned.'


On the final day, a closed-door meeting of regulatory agencies will be held on the development of AI medical products. In addition, bilateral meetings, memorandum of understanding (MOU) signing ceremonies, and an international medical device forum will also take place.

The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety stated, "Through AIRIS, we will take the lead in global regulatory harmonization to promote the safety and innovation of AI medical products by joining hands with regulatory agencies from various countries, the WHO, companies, and experts. We will also strengthen solidarity and cooperation."
