Starbucks Resumes Sales of the Sold-Out "The Melon of Melon Frappuccino"

Over 1 Million Cups Sold Last Year, Shaped Like a Whole Melon
Ranked No. 1 in Frappuccino Sales on the Day of Its Re-release Last Month

Starbucks Korea announced that it will resume sales of the "The Melon of Melon Frappuccino," which had been temporarily suspended, at stores nationwide starting August 11. This menu item experienced a sell-out crisis last month after gaining popularity immediately upon its re-release.

More than 1 million cups of "The Melon of Melon Frappuccino" were sold last year. The drink is known for its visual presentation, which resembles a whole melon, and its refreshing flavor. On the day of its re-release last month, it ranked first in sales within the frappuccino category, spreading rapidly by word of mouth.


In particular, demand surged due to the combination of the heatwave and the "Frappuccino 30 Weekend" event, which was held to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the frappuccino. Every Friday, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., all frappuccino and blended drinks were offered at a 30% discount, leading to the product selling out at a significant number of stores nationwide for about a week.


In response, Starbucks secured raw materials on an emergency basis and resumed sales starting today. Until August 14, customers who pay with a Starbucks Card for this product will receive three additional Stars immediately as a benefit.


Last month, Starbucks' frappuccino sales more than doubled compared to the previous year, reaching an all-time high. The "Frappuccino 30 Weekend" event, along with the "Random Frappuccino" (6,500 won) event?which allowed customers to customize drinks with syrup, drizzle, java chips, and more?also contributed to strong sales. The best-selling item was the "Grapefruit Mango Coco Frappuccino," with approximately 1.2 million cups sold in one month. This was followed by the "Cafe Brulee Frappuccino" and the "Jeju Matcha Cream Frappuccino."


Meanwhile, the "Frappuccino 30 Weekend" event will run until August 17.
