Samsung Electronics Wins U.S. 'AI Cyber Challenge', Proving Leadership in Security Technology

Samsung Electronics announced on the 9th that it took first place at the world's largest security technology competition, the 'Artificial Intelligence (AI) Cyber Challenge (AIxCC)', held in Las Vegas, USA.


The AI Cyber Challenge is a massive global security technology competition organized by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) under the U.S. Department of Defense, with a total prize pool of $22.5 million.

Samsung Electronics' joint team, 'Team Atlanta', consisted of around 40 security researchers from Samsung Research, the advanced R&D organization of Samsung Electronics, as well as Georgia Tech, Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), and Pohang University of Science and Technology (POSTECH).


In the finals, Team Atlanta demonstrated technology that quickly identified complex and diverse security vulnerabilities and generated accurate security patches, ultimately winning the championship. The prize for first place is $4 million.


Samsung Electronics plans to use this achievement as an opportunity to further enhance the competitiveness of its AI security technology and to expand cooperation to strengthen the global security ecosystem.


In particular, the company aims to reinforce the security of its products and services with next-generation AI security solutions that autonomously identify and respond to security vulnerabilities.


Kim Tae-su, Executive Vice President of Samsung Research, who led the joint team, said, "We will continue to collaborate with global security experts to further strengthen Samsung Electronics' security technology."
