Comprehensive Survey of Public and Private Facilities
Excludes Aging Facilities and Buildings Under Construction
Gwangsan District in Gwangju announced on August 8 that it will begin a comprehensive survey of public, private, and personal facilities to assess the damage caused by the heavy rainfall that occurred from August 3 to 7 and to establish a recovery plan.
Each management department will investigate public facilities such as roads, rivers, and sewage systems, while the administrative welfare centers in the affected neighborhoods will be responsible for receiving damage reports for private facilities, including houses, crops, agricultural and forestry facilities, factories, and small business stores.
Residents who suffered damage, such as flooding or facility destruction, can confirm the affected area and quantity, prepare relevant photographs, and visit their neighborhood administrative welfare center to file a report. Online submissions are also possible through the National Disaster Safety Portal. The survey will continue until August 16.
Gwangsan District stated that damages caused by facility aging or poor maintenance, as well as buildings under construction, will be excluded from the survey. For crop damage, it is necessary to verify whether policy insurance, such as storm and flood or agricultural disaster insurance, has been purchased.
