Wemade Reports 28.5 Billion Won Operating Loss in Q2... Expects Performance Improvement with New Titles in Second Half (Comprehensive)

Wemade announced in a regulatory filing on August 8 that its consolidated operating loss for the second quarter of this year was provisionally tallied at 28.5 billion won, an increase in losses compared to 24.1 billion won in the same period last year.

Second-quarter revenue was 116.8 billion won, down 18% from the previous quarter and down 31.8% from the same period last year. The net loss amounted to 28.3 billion won, marking a return to the red.

Wemade explained that the impact of new releases such as "Legend of Ymir" and "Lost Sword," which launched domestically in the first quarter of this year, has diminished, and revenue from existing games has also declined.

However, the company expects annual performance to improve, as it did in 2024, citing the inclusion of license revenue from "Legend of Mir 2" and "Legend of Mir 3" in China in the second half of the year, as well as the planned launch of various new titles.

Wemade aims to accelerate revenue growth and performance improvement through new game releases. More than 10 new titles, including the global version of "Legend of Ymir," the Chinese version of "Mir M," and "Midnight Walkers," are scheduled for release in domestic and overseas markets by next year.

In addition, the blockchain game platform "Wemix Play" is strengthening its competitiveness through service upgrades, enhanced accessibility, and the expansion of its revenue model. The company plans to secure more than 10 external games by next year and gradually grow platform-related revenue.
