According to the county on August 8, a project titled "Establishment of Smart Mobility Safety Service for the Mobility-Impaired Using LoRa IoT" is currently underway to support the safe movement of local seniors.
The core of the project is a compact IoT device that can be attached to electric mobility aids. It accurately detects accidents such as falls using gyroscopic sensors and gravity acceleration sensors. In the event of an accident, the device automatically reports to the Gochang County CCTV Integrated Control Center via the LoRa wireless communication network.
These prompt rescue measures have helped ensure the safety of electric mobility aid users. The data collected through the system will be used as big data for analyzing movement routes and identifying high-risk areas.
Through this, the county plans to analyze the movement patterns of electric mobility aid users, identify accident-prone areas, and utilize the findings to expand safety infrastructure, including improving road environments.
Yu Changhyeong, head of the county's Administrative Support Division, stated, "As we enter a super-aged society, ensuring mobility rights for seniors is becoming increasingly important," and added, "Through this IoT-based electric mobility aid safety service, we will create an environment where seniors in Gochang County can move about with peace of mind."
