K-Expo Held Across Asia and Europe Since 2022
First Event in the Americas... Performances, Exhibitions, and Export Consultations
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, and the Ministry of Health and Welfare announced on August 8 that, together with the Korea Creative Content Agency (KOCCA), Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corporation, Korea Cosmetic Industry Institute, Korea Tourism Organization, and National Museum Cultural Foundation, they will host the "2025 Canada K-Expo: All About K-Style" in Toronto, Canada, from August 9 to 12.
The K-Expo is a comprehensive event designed to support the joint export of K-content, agricultural and marine products, cosmetics, and other consumer goods by offering performances and exhibitions for consumers, as well as export consultations and briefings for businesses. Since 2022, it has toured Asia and Europe, and this year marks its first event in the Americas. A total of 34 content companies, 17 cosmetics companies, and 10 seafood companies will participate.
A wide range of exhibitions and events integrating K-content with related industries will be featured. On August 9 and 10, there will be K-Style exhibitions, hands-on experiences, and performances that combine K-content with K-food and K-beauty. The production company ELTV, known for the "Korean Food Rhapsody" series, will collaborate with the Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corporation to present a cooking show featuring renowned Canadian chef Raymond Kim. Actor Ryu Sooyoung, a well-known promoter of Korean cuisine, will join a cooking talk show to introduce Canadian consumers to K-food recipes using kimchi, salted shrimp, and more. There will also be makeup demonstrations and product showcases inspired by popular K-webtoons and dramas such as "True Beauty" and "My Perfect Secretary."
In addition, various promotional exhibition halls will be available to Canadian consumers, including: ▲ the National Museum Cultural Foundation's premium cultural product MU:DS exhibition hall, ▲ the Korea Cosmetic Industry Institute's skin and personalized color (personal color) diagnostics, ▲ the Korea Tourism Organization's K-Ramen Museum (Library) and "Jeju Haenyeo Photo Zone" within the Korea tourism promotion hall, ▲ the Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corporation's comprehensive exhibition and experience event where visitors can taste Korean seafood products, and ▲ a promotional hall for games, animation, and fusion content.
On August 10, a K-pop concert will be held featuring BamBam, Cravity, Fifty Fifty, and the multinational K-pop cover dance team RPM. The event will invite local Canadian youth from underprivileged backgrounds and people with disabilities, and, in cooperation with Good Neighbors Toronto, will promote a culture of giving. This will highlight the role of K-culture in bridging cultural gaps and fostering harmony in the international community.
On August 11 and 12, various business-to-business events such as export consultations, briefings, and networking sessions will be organized for buyers from Canada and neighboring countries, helping K-culture and related industries expand into the North American market.
Kim Hyunjun, Director General for International Cultural Policy at the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, stated, "K-culture, which is gaining worldwide popularity, is becoming a new growth engine for our economy. We hope this event will serve as an opportunity to further spread sustainable Hallyu in the Americas and expand our export markets."
