Semes Achieves 2,500th Unit Sold of Single-Wafer Cleaning Equipment for Semiconductor Mass Production

Semes, a semiconductor equipment manufacturer, announced on August 1 that it has achieved a milestone by selling 2,500 units of its single-wafer cleaning equipment for mass production, the first time this has been accomplished in South Korea.

Since the initial development for mass production in July 2006, the company’s cumulative sales have also surpassed 7 trillion won.

Single-wafer cleaning is a process in which each semiconductor wafer is cleaned individually to remove particles (contaminants) remaining on the wafer surface, as the circuit linewidths on semiconductor wafers become increasingly finer. The core technology of Semes’ single-wafer cleaning equipment has been designated as a national core technology.

These facilities have significantly improved cleaning performance by more than 90% compared to previous systems, by applying a variety of materials and new technologies. They are designed to allow the cleaning method to be adjusted according to the contamination level of the wafer.

Kim Kyunghyun, Head of the Clean Team at Semes, stated, "We will continue to develop new products that integrate various process technologies and secure eco-friendly equipment competitiveness, aiming to become a truly leading company in semiconductor cleaning equipment."
