[Breaking] Body Believed to Be Missing Person Found Near Sincheongpyeong Bridge in Gapyeong

The fire authorities conducting a search for missing persons in Gapyeong, Gyeonggi Province, have discovered an unidentified body.

Firefighters are conducting a search operation for missing persons along the left and right waterfronts from the confluence area of Jojongcheon Stream to the bottom of Cheongpyeong Dam in Gapyeong County. Provided by Gyeonggi Northern Fire and Disaster Headquarters

Firefighters participating in the search operation in Gapyeong announced that at approximately 4:20 p.m. on July 31, they found one body near Sincheongpyeong Bridge while searching for missing persons.

The identity of the discovered body has not yet been confirmed.

The fire authorities immediately notified the police and other relevant agencies of the discovery, and a joint identification process is currently underway.

A fire department official stated, "We will provide further information as soon as the results of the relevant agencies' investigation into the exact identity and cause of death are available," adding, "We will do our utmost to support the families of the missing persons and to ensure safety at the site."

Previously, the Gapyeong area had experienced missing persons due to river flooding and swift currents caused by recent heavy rains, prompting joint search operations by the fire department, police, and military authorities.
