Gwangyang Chamber of Commerce: 86.7% of Local Companies to Grant Summer Vacation, Average Duration 3.1 Days

66.7% Plan to Provide Vacation Allowances

The Gwangyang Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Jeonnam (Chairman: Woo Gwangil) announced on the 24th that, according to a survey conducted among local companies from July 14 to 17 on their "2025 Summer Vacation Plans," 86.7% responded that they would implement summer vacations, with the average number of vacation days being 3.1 days.


Looking at the details by category, 46.7% of companies said they would grant three days of vacation, which was the largest proportion. Regarding the form of vacation, 63% cited "using personal annual leave," followed by "using special summer leave" at 29.6%, and "other" at 7.4%.

As for the most preferred vacation period, "the first week of August" was the most popular response at 26.7%, followed by "the last week of July" at 16.7%, "the second week of August" at 10%, and "the third week of August" at 3.3%. In the "other" category, 43.3% indicated they would take vacations in various forms, such as spread throughout the year.


Additionally, 66.7% of responding companies said they provide vacation allowances. Regarding the payment method, 30% pay as "regular bonuses," and 36.7% pay a "fixed amount." For the 33.3% who do not provide vacation allowances, the reasons cited were "implementation of an annual salary system" (69.2%), "economic difficulties" (23.1%), and "lack of funds" (7.7%).


When vacation allowances are paid as regular bonuses, 55.6% pay "50-100% of the base salary," 33.3% pay "30-50%," and 11.1% pay "30% or less." When a fixed amount is paid, 33.3% provide "differentiated payments by individual," 25% pay "500,000 won," 16.7% pay "300,000 won," 8.4% pay "100,000 won," 8.3% pay "400,000 won," and 8.3% pay "200,000 won."


When asked about the funding situation for vacation allowances, 70% responded that it was "the same as the previous year," 26.7% said it had "worsened compared to the previous year," and 3.3% said it had "improved compared to the previous year."
