Tailored Digital Education for Middle-Aged Adults Bridges the Divide: "From Basics to AI Utilization at Once"

Digital education aimed at strengthening the employment capabilities of middle-aged and older adults is yielding positive results in the Chungnam region.

The Industry-Academia Cooperation Foundation of Korea University of Technology and Education announced on the 23rd that it had jointly planned and operated the "Digital RESTART 4050" program with the Chungnam Sejong Regional Headquarters of the Federation of Korean Trade Unions (Chairperson Ko Seokhee) to bridge the digital divide among middle-aged and older adults and enhance their reemployment prospects.

This program provided systematic education for middle-aged and older adults in the Chungnam region, consisting of three phases: Phase 1 (Basic): digital competency assessment and basic utilization; Phase 2 (Application): strengthening the ability to use digital tools and generative AI; and Phase 3 (Job Search Practice): career management and job search strategy development.

Approximately 40 middle-aged and older adults from the region participated in the 12-step training held at the second campus of Korea University of Technology and Education (Budae-dong, Cheonan, Chungnam) until the 27th.

Participants expressed high satisfaction with the program, describing it as "realistic and practical" thanks to its hands-on approach to digital finance, security, communication, and generative AI.

One participant said, "At first, I was afraid, but after working directly with AI, I gained confidence," and added, "I hope these kinds of programs continue to be offered."

Ko Seokhee, Chairperson, stated, "This training has been a great help in enabling middle-aged and older adults to respond flexibly to technological changes and seize new opportunities," and added, "We will continue to expand collaborative projects to revitalize the local economy."

Lee Gyuman, Head of the Industry-Academia Cooperation Foundation, said, "I feel fulfilled to be able to provide real value to the local community," and added, "We will continue to support the ongoing growth of middle-aged and older adults through tailored education programs."
