"The Era of Agent-to-Agent Is Coming"

Kim Dongshin, CEO of the software and artificial intelligence (AI) solutions company Sendbird, delivered a lecture on the third day of the "38th Korea Economic Association (Hankyung) CEO Jeju Summer Forum" held at Lotte Hotel Jeju on the 18th. He emphasized that for companies to successfully adopt AI technology, it is crucial for top management, including the CEO, to demonstrate strong commitment, collaborate with specialized firms, and set sequential goals.

In his lecture, Kim shared strategies for entering the global market with AI-based solutions. He began by demonstrating with AI the case of Hyundai Group founder Chung Ju-yung, who persuaded a British bank to fund the construction of a shipyard by showing them a turtle ship depicted on a 500-won bill at the time.

Kim stressed, "Now, with just a single image, AI can generate voice and video," adding, "The era of AI has already arrived, as seen by the 12% increase in bookings after Airbnb introduced AI-powered reservation recommendations."

He explained that for AI to be integrated into practical business operations, organizational change is necessary. He stated that it is important for top decision-makers (C-level executives) to set clear objectives, for companies to collaborate with AI specialists, and to start with uncomplicated goals such as automating repetitive tasks.

Kim cited the example of AI automation at the Hanssem customer center, which was commercialized in just two months, explaining, "This success was possible because C-level executives provided clear direction and delegated responsibility."

He also added that Lotte Homeshopping was able to successfully utilize AI in customer service, product matching, and content management by partnering with the AI specialist company Entropic.

Kim stated that an era of communication between AIs, known as "Agent-to-Agent" (A2A) economy, is coming, and that Korean companies need to prepare for it. "A hyperconnected digital economy based on AI agents is on the way," he said, "and AI agents will be able to make hundreds of decisions simultaneously, surpassing humans in both the volume of information processed and the speed of decision-making in the future."

Kim emphasized, "Executives must recognize that the spread of AI agents is faster than that of humans," adding, "Many companies around us have already succeeded in adopting AI, and now it is no longer a matter of technology but a matter of determination."
