The construction of the Anseong City Public Postpartum Care Center is a key pledge of Mayor Kim Bora's eighth term, and the project has been underway since it was selected as a Gyeonggi Province public project in 2023.
The public postpartum care center will be built at 424-3 Oksan-dong, with one basement level and four above-ground floors, and a total floor area of 1,820 square meters. The facility will include 16 rooms for mothers, a newborn nursery, a loess room and massage room for mothers, among other amenities. The city plans to invest a budget of 13.8 billion won, with construction scheduled to begin next year and completion targeted for 2027.
A total of 18 submissions were received for this design competition. The city evaluated the entries based on various criteria, including the practicality and efficiency of spatial layout and circulation, harmony with the surrounding landscape, and the safety and hygiene of mothers and infants. As a result, the submission by Heyum and Theopresent was selected as the winner.
The city plans to begin basic and detailed design work based on the winning proposal.
Shin Hyungjin, head of the Anseong City Public Health Center, said, "Through the construction of the public postpartum care center, we aim to resolve the inconvenience of citizens having to seek postpartum care outside the city and to provide high-quality postpartum care services."
