Easily Access Information on Works Supported by the Seoul Foundation for Arts and Culture
The Seoul Foundation for Arts and Culture announced on July 18 that it will officially launch the Seoul Arts Support Information Portal 'SPAC (SPAC·Seoul Portal for Approved and Curated)' to enhance information accessibility for artworks supported by the foundation and to help spread creative content both domestically and internationally.
SPAC is an online platform that provides an overview of information on more than 500 selected works supported by the Seoul Foundation for Arts and Culture, with an annual budget of about 17 billion KRW. Artists can directly register and edit their content, allowing information to be updated quickly based on reliability and accuracy. Additionally, the platform integrates and accumulates information about art spaces and artists' activities throughout Seoul, functioning as a 'Seoul-style public art database.'
While previous platforms focused on artists' profiles and activity histories, SPAC differentiates itself by allowing creators to independently organize content centered on 'works,' spatial information, and participating artists' backgrounds. From the user's perspective, it is expected to become a cultural information platform with the unique advantage of providing real-time cultural enjoyment information tailored to individual tastes and preferences, rather than merely serving as an administrative database.
The 'Art Map Service' visualizes information on performance venues and exhibition spaces throughout Seoul on a map, enabling users to search by location and instantly find performances and exhibitions happening nearby. In particular, the platform will collect and disclose information on small private art spaces that were previously not searchable on existing portals.
The Seoul Foundation for Arts and Culture stated that it will strengthen the connection of art content among Seoul's 25 districts through cooperation with district-level cultural foundations and enhance global accessibility by adding English translation features, thereby laying the groundwork for domestic and international distribution.
Song Hyungjong, CEO of the Seoul Foundation for Arts and Culture, said, "The foundation for the global distribution of Seoul's artworks, which I emphasized during the 100th day in office briefing last April, has now become a reality. SPAC is not merely a collection of information, but a portal composed in the language of artists. For artists, it will be a trusted digital promotional channel; for citizens, it will serve as a new point of contact to enjoy art more closely. The platform will continue to evolve as a central hub for public art information."
