The Yeongam County Folk Ssireum Team spent a meaningful time sharing the appeal of traditional folk Ssireum with local youth.

According to the county on July 17, the Yeongam County Folk Ssireum Team held a "Visiting Ssireum Class" for about 200 third-grade students at the Samho Middle School gymnasium on July 16, successfully concluding the event with an enthusiastic response.

This event was part of the "Culture Day" program and was organized to promote the value of traditional Ssireum while engaging with the local community. On this day, coach Yoon Jeongsu, along with wrestlers Lee Taegyu, Cha Minsu, Choi Jeongman, Moon Hyunwoo, and Lee Eunsu from the Yeongam County Folk Ssireum Team, introduced the history and basic movements of Ssireum, basic physical training, and practical techniques, directly interacting with the students.

The students experienced the value of traditional culture firsthand by participating in one-on-one matches and directly engaging with the national champion wrestlers.

Coach Yoon Jeongsu said, "It was a precious opportunity to introduce the appeal of Ssireum to Yeongam students," and added, "We will continue to protect the value of tradition and grow together with the local community through various activities centered on Ssireum."

Meanwhile, since its establishment in 2017, the team has established itself as a prestigious Ssireum team, achieving a total of 99 championship titles, including 81 individual championships, 7 gold medals at the National Sports Festival, and 11 team championships. In April, the team also visited Gurim Elementary School to run a Ssireum class for fifth and sixth graders, which received a highly positive response.
