Gangdong-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Lee Soohee) announced on July 17 that the amendment to the redevelopment promotion plan for the 'Cheonho and Cheonho-Seongnae Redevelopment Promotion District' was conditionally approved at the 6th Seoul Urban Redevelopment Committee meeting held earlier this month.
According to this amendment, all areas except for three promotion zones within the Cheonho Redevelopment Promotion District will be removed from the redevelopment promotion district.
As a result, alternative redevelopment projects such as street housing maintenance projects and Moa Town, which had faced development restrictions due to being designated as preservation management zones within the existing promotion district, are expected to accelerate. The administrative burden related to permits and approvals for residents is also expected to be significantly reduced.
In addition, regulatory easing will be implemented within the Cheonho-Seongnae Redevelopment Promotion District, including the removal of some restrictions on floor area ratio, building height, and maximum development scale, thereby improving development conditions in the area. Based on this, development activity in commercial areas is expected to be further promoted, and the district is anticipated to strengthen its status as a regional center.
Lee Sunhyeong, head of the Gangdong-gu Urban Planning Division, said, "We plan to actively reflect residents' opinions and steadily pursue improvements in the residential environment and urban maintenance."
