Gyeonggi Province will dispatch a corporate trade delegation to Texas, United States, this coming September. The province is recruiting companies to join the delegation until August 13.
On July 17, Gyeonggi Provincial Government announced that it will send an "Electrical and Electronic·Semiconductor Trade Environment Delegation" to Texas, United States, from September 15 to 20, and is now seeking participant companies. A total of 10 companies in the electrical and electronic·semiconductor sectors will be selected.
This dispatch is a measure to minimize corporate risks and prepare countermeasures in response to the semiconductor tariff announcement expected soon from the Trump administration in the United States, following previous tariffs on automobiles and auto parts.
Semiconductors are the second-largest export item from Korea to the United States, following automobiles, and they are also the second-largest export item from Gyeonggi Province to the U.S.
Through this delegation, Gyeonggi Province plans to support participant companies in assessing the local trade environment in the United States and in establishing multifaceted trade and export strategies. The aim is to strengthen companies' ability to respond to tariff risks and to help lay the foundation for global competitiveness.
Texas is a key strategic region in the United States where various industries such as semiconductors, energy, bio, and aerospace are rapidly growing. Major global semiconductor and big tech companies, including Samsung Electronics' Austin fab, Apple's Houston AI server plant, and Tesla's Austin Gigafactory, have established a significant presence there. Austin is also known as "Silicon Hills," a core cluster for advanced technology industries.
Previously, in June, Gyeonggi Province dispatched an "Automotive Parts Trade Environment Delegation" to Georgia, United States.
