On July 16, the domestic stock market opened with a broad decline in early trading.
As of 9:25 a.m. on this day, the KOSPI was trading at 3,189.40, down 25.88 points (0.80%) from the previous day. Earlier, the index had opened at 3,207.48, down 7.80 points (0.24%), and has since widened its losses. While individual investors made net purchases amounting to 378.1 billion won, foreign investors and institutions sold off 184.8 billion won and 207.4 billion won worth of shares, respectively.
In the KOSPI 200 futures market, foreign investors sold 235.5 billion won, while institutions bought 269.7 billion won.
Most of the top market capitalization stocks are also showing declines. KB Financial Group (-3.26%), Doosan Enerbility (-2.14%), SK Hynix (-1.51%), Hanwha Aerospace (-1.47%), Celltrion (-1.34%), Shinhan Financial Group (-1.27%), Hyundai Motor (-1.18%), and LG Energy Solution (-1.11%) are all weakening.
At the same time, the KOSDAQ was trading at 808.00, down 4.88 points (0.60%). Earlier, the index had opened at 810.09, down 2.79 points (0.34%). While individual investors bought 87.6 billion won worth of shares, foreign investors and institutions were net sellers of 73.6 billion won and 11.4 billion won, respectively.
Most of the leading KOSDAQ stocks are also on a downward trend. ABL Bio (-3.05%), Kolon TissueGene (-1.60%), Legochem Biosciences (-1.54%), HLB (-1.34%), Samchundang Pharm (-1.20%), Ecopro (-1.06%), and Ecopro BM (-0.95%) are all declining, while Classys (1.70%), Peptron (1.70%), and PharmaResearch (1.01%) are showing gains.
By sector, securities (-3.52%), healthcare (-2.88%), banking (-2.26%), shipping (-2.03%), IT services (-2.01%), card (-1.74%), venture capital (-1.65%), and other financials (-1.55%) are all weak. In contrast, electric utilities (2.36%), electrical equipment (1.32%), shipbuilding (1.31%), and display (1.00%) are showing strength.
