Attending the opening ceremony were Kim Jongsul, Director of the Daegu Regional Veterans Office; Woo Daehyun, Head of the Daegu Chapter of the Liberation Association; Lee Myungsik, Executive Director of the National Debt Repayment Movement Memorial Project Association; and Seo Jungwon, CEO of Daeseon, along with about 20 other participants. They toured the train's interior and exterior wrapping designs and content.

The Veterans Theme Train is an externally wrapped train operating on Daegu Metro Line 3, the only monorail urban railway in Korea. It was planned to shed light on Daegu's history of the independence movement. The train's exterior highlights the National Debt Repayment Movement (January) and the organization of the Liberation Association (July), which were selected by the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs as the 'Independence Movement of the Month' in celebration of the 80th anniversary of Liberation Day.

In particular, the side of the train visually features the achievements of key figures in the National Debt Repayment Movement, such as Kim Gwangje and Seo Sangdon, as well as Park Sangjin, Commander-in-Chief of the Daehan Gwangbokhoe, and Woo Jaeryong, a commanding officer. This allows citizens to encounter the history of the independence movement in their daily lives.

Inside the train, information about the 'Heroad' photo zone, which honors major memorial facilities in Daegu and heroes of the Korean War, is provided to encourage visits and foster patriotism. 'Heroad' combines 'Hero' and 'Here,' and among the ten installations nationwide, two are located in Daegu: the Hwaryeongjang Battle Victory Memorial Hall and the Chilgok Jago Mountain Peace Observatory.

Director Kim Jongsul stated, "I hope this theme train will serve as an opportunity for citizens to reflect on the meaning of Liberation and for the culture of honoring our veterans to spread naturally," and added, "We will continue our efforts to establish a culture of respect for those who have dedicated themselves to the nation."

The Veterans Theme Train is scheduled to operate on Daegu Metro Line 3 for one month, from July 15 until Liberation Day on August 15.
