President Lee, Prime Minister Kim, and Ministry of Foreign Affairs
Demonstrate Real-Time Communication on APEC Preparations via SNS

In the lead-up to the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit scheduled to be held in Gyeongju this October, President Lee Jaemyung and Prime Minister Kim Minseok demonstrated 'digital administrative communication' by sharing real-time updates on preparations via social networking services (SNS).

On the morning of the 11th, President Lee addressed Prime Minister Kim directly through his official X (formerly Twitter) account, requesting, "Please closely monitor the progress of infrastructure facilities related to the Gyeongju APEC."

Prime Minister Kim responded approximately six minutes later. He stated, "Mr. President, I am currently on my way to Gyeongju for the first on-site inspection of the APEC venues," and added, "I plan to comprehensively assess the on-site situation and establish future plans." He continued, "I will report to you immediately after today's inspection."

Prime Minister Kim visited Gyeongju that day to personally inspect the construction status of all relevant infrastructure, including the summit venue, media center, accommodations, and banquet hall. At 2:35 p.m., he posted again on X, saying, "I am on the train after completing the first inspection," and announced, "Starting next week, I will be checking the new construction sites every week and will also inspect cultural content together with the chief cultural supervisor and others."

Additionally, Prime Minister Kim mentioned the official account of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and instructed, "Vice Minister Kim Jina of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, please prepare for the infrastructure inspection on the 15th next week and for the cultural content report and discussion on the 16th."

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also responded via its X account, stating, "Prime Minister, the APEC Preparatory Task Force will work hard to make K-APEC an event that exceeds expectations and moves people," and added, "We will report the supplementary measures for your feedback and the cultural content planning proposal next week."

Meanwhile, President Lee has been known for utilizing SNS in administrative affairs since his tenure as mayor of Seongnam. As mayor, President Lee posted a photo of a dented ventilation cover he noticed while walking on a road to SNS and directly ordered its repair, or checked citizen complaints through SNS and directed crackdowns on illegal street vendors operating on popular hiking trails.

The instructions and reports exchanged between President Lee and the relevant officials were made public on SNS, allowing citizens to view the administrative process in real time.
