Catholic University Achieves Six Awards at 2025 Jeonju Future Culture Forum

Six Students Win Awards Across All Fields
Demonstrating Creativity and Competence

Catholic University announced on July 11 that graduate students from the Department of Performing Arts and Culture demonstrated their academic excellence by winning six awards at the 2025 Jeonju Future Culture Forum.

The 2025 Jeonju Future Culture Forum is a large-scale academic event focused on cultural and artistic convergence, hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Jeonju City, and the Jeonju Cultural Foundation. It is co-organized by four academic societies?the Korean Association of Regional Culture, the Korean Association for Cultural Economics, the Korean Association of Arts Management, and the Korean Association for Culture and Arts Management?as well as the Korea Culture and Tourism Institute. This year's forum, held under the theme "In the Era of Great Transformation, Seeking the Path of Future Cities through Culture," brought together more than 300 leading domestic experts in regional culture, cultural tourism, and the arts.


On this day, Catholic University graduate students from the Department of Performing Arts and Culture participated in the poster presentation session. They were highly praised for their creative insights and practical proposals on designing the path of future cities through culture in the era of great transformation, resulting in a total of six awards.


In the session hosted by the Korean Association of Regional Culture, graduate student Ma Cho received the Excellence Award for the presentation "The Impact of Immersive Experience in the Game 'Black Deepening: Ogong' on the Cultural Identity of Generation Z." Graduate student Sa Chenhee also received the Excellence Award for "A Narrative Study on the Formation Process of Artistic Instructors' Professional Identity as Art Club Advisors in Chinese Schools." Graduate student Heo Jin was awarded the Encouragement Award for "A Comparative Study on the Trends and Discourses in Live Performance Research in Korea and China."


In the session hosted by the Korean Association of Arts Management, graduate student Jo Geon received the Encouragement Award for "A Narrative Study on the Embodied Cognitive Changes of Immersive Theater Audiences in Henan." Graduate student Jo Ri was also awarded the Encouragement Award for "The Modern Development of Folk Culture: A Case Study of 'Yushin' in Fujian Folk Customs." In addition, in the poster presentation session of the Korean Association for Culture and Arts Management, graduate students Jeung Shin and Lee Udong jointly received the Encouragement Award for "Strategic Practices of Complex Cultural Spaces from the Perspective of Cultural Marketing."


The award recipients stated, "It was a valuable experience to be able to consider both the social significance and practical possibilities while deepening our research topics," and added, "By interacting with researchers from various fields, we were able to reflect once again on the interdisciplinary expansiveness and public value of cultural and artistic research."


Professor Kim Youngjoo of the Department of Performing Arts and Culture at Catholic University commented, "These awards are a case that demonstrates how creative awareness of issues connecting culture and cities, as well as art and society, can be materialized into academic achievements. I hope that research initiated from the perspectives of our students will become the foundation for collectively envisioning the cultural path of future cities."
