"Soaked in Mud, Ignited by Music"... Boryeong Mud Festival Kicks Off on July 25

The 28th Boryeong Mud Festival, set to heat up the summer for people around the world, will be held for 17 days from July 25 to August 10 at Daecheon Beach and the Mud Expo Square in Boryeong.

According to Boryeong City on July 8, this year’s festival is designed to provide visitors with an overwhelming sense of immersion, featuring thrilling mud experiences during the day and spectacular performances at night.

The festival’s signature mud experiences are offered in a variety of zones, including a general experience zone, a family zone for group visitors, a water park zone exclusively for children, and the Mud Beauty Healing Center, which combines beauty and wellness concepts.

Additionally, “Mud on the Beach,” held on the shoreline, is drawing attention as an immersive nighttime program targeting younger audiences, featuring EDM and DJ shows, as well as water gun dance parties.

Generation-tailored performances such as a drone light show, K-hip hop festival, and 8090 Night Show will also take place in succession, ensuring the festival’s excitement continues well into the night.

Top-tier domestic stages such as the World DJ Festival, KBS K-POP Super Live, M-NET M Countdown, and TV Chosun Super Concert will be held in succession. Some performances will be broadcast live or recorded nationwide, spreading the energy of Boryeong’s summer across the country.

This year’s festival is also gaining attention as a mutually beneficial model that grows together with the local community.

Discount coupons, a local delivery zone, and booths selling regional specialties will be available to promote local consumption. A “Youth Hope Booth” will also be newly established to support youth entrepreneurship and self-reliance.

The “Mud Incentive” program has been introduced, offering discounts to festival-goers who spend a certain amount at local restaurants, shops, or accommodations.

The “30 Years Together Citizens’ Festival,” in which all towns and districts of Boryeong participate, is a resident-led event commemorating the 30th anniversary of the integration of Daecheon City and Boryeong County. By combining the community spirit of the region with the festival, it is expected to inject new vitality into the area.

Rest areas for visitor convenience have been greatly expanded. Various shelters to escape the summer heat have been prepared, including a picnic zone utilizing pine groves, a large “Big Mist Zone” equipped with mist facilities, a “Cool Zone” with air conditioning, and a “Premium Shower Zone” with full-length mirrors and hair dryers.

Separate shaded facilities have also been installed for families with children, providing a safer and more comfortable festival environment.

Mayor Kim Dongil stated, “This year’s Mud Festival has been prepared with enhanced brand value and content as Korea’s representative festival. We will do our utmost to ensure that domestic and international tourists can mingle through mud, and that all citizens can feel pride in a safe festival.”
