It was belatedly revealed that regular non-civil servant employees (permanent workers affiliated with national or local governments, public institutions, etc.) and fixed-term employees (workers with a set employment contract period) in charge of building cleaning at the Jeollanam-do provincial government office left their workplace during working hours and were involved in a traffic accident, sparking controversy.

According to the Muan Police on July 7, at around 10:40 a.m. on July 1, a regular employee of the Jeonnam Provincial Government Office, identified as A, was driving his own Avante car with two fixed-term colleagues as passengers. While passing near the intersection at the Statistics Korea four-way junction in Namak, Muan, Jeonnam, the vehicle collided head-on with an oncoming Sorento.

As a result of the accident, A and the others were transported to a nearby hospital and are still receiving treatment as of the article's publication date. It was found that, despite being on duty at the time, they had left their workplace at the provincial government office and were moving to an unspecified location when the accident occurred.

Immediately after the accident, A and the others reportedly told the department head at the provincial government office that they had the accident "while going out for lunch."

An official from the Muan Police said, "A and the others are currently receiving medical treatment, so we have not been able to conduct a separate investigation. We plan to investigate the exact circumstances of the incident as soon as their treatment is sufficiently completed."
