Four Demand Company-Led Demonstration Projects Selected
Results Expected by October
The Ulsan Information Industry Promotion Agency (Director Jang Byungtae) has officially launched efforts to create a collaborative ecosystem that integrates 3D printing technology into Ulsan's strategic industries.
As part of the "2025 Ulsan 3D Printing Collaborative Ecosystem Development Project," the agency has selected four demonstration projects to be carried out by consortia led by demand companies.
The selected projects are focused on the automotive and future mobility sectors, with plans to complete demonstrations by October 2025.
The core of this initiative is to connect the development of high value-added products based on 3D printing technology to commercialization. A key feature is the introduction of a consortium system directly led by demand companies, moving away from the traditional supplier-centered structure. The program has been reorganized from last year's "Core Industry 3D Printing Technology Convergence Demonstration Support Project" to increase the likelihood of commercialization success through demonstration-focused approaches.
In the automotive sector, the selected projects include: ▲ optimization and demonstration of lightweight inspection jig structures for quality verification of car body assembly parts, and ▲ development of an integrated hanger system unit for flexible production. In the future mobility sector, the projects are: ▲ development of 3D printing-based customized fountain nozzles and lightweight hulls, and ▲ development of production processes for multipurpose water drone hulls.
Four consortia will participate in these projects: Skycis (Joy Marine Tech), JD (Jun Engineering), Shinyoung (Metal3D), and AJ Ajin (K-Labs).
The agency will provide 50 million KRW per project for prototype production, and will assess commercialization potential through technical demonstrations.
The Ulsan Information Industry Promotion Agency plans to further identify diverse demand companies and strengthen technology matching, aiming to transform Ulsan's 3D printing industry from simple technology supply to a demand-driven manufacturing ecosystem.
Director Jang Byungtae said, "By creating a structure where technology providers and demand companies facing on-site challenges work together to find solutions, we will enhance the overall competitiveness of the industrial ecosystem," adding, "We will actively support this initiative so that it can become a driving force for innovation in Ulsan's manufacturing industry."
