Cultural Heritage Administration to Hold Summer Vacation Safety Education for Children

Regional Outreach Education Scheduled for September

The Cultural Heritage Administration announced on July 7 that it will conduct safety education for children during the elementary school summer vacation. The program will be held at the Education Room of the Gung Learning Center in the National Palace Museum of Korea, with a total of six sessions from July 29 to August 14 (on July 29, 31, and August 5, 7, 12, and 14). The sessions will teach the value and importance of national heritage. The program will introduce cases of damage such as graffiti and provide instructions on what to do in the event of a disaster.

The program is intended for first to third grade elementary school students. Each session lasts 40 minutes and uses videos and teaching materials tailored to children's level. Participation is free of charge. A total of 360 participants will be recruited. Applications will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis on the National Palace Museum of Korea website from July 7 to August 13. Commemorative gifts will be provided to participating children.

The Cultural Heritage Administration will also conduct regional outreach education in September, visiting elementary schools in cities such as Andong, Gyeongju, and Jeonju. The program will be expanded to include adults until October. The target audience includes national heritage safety guards, interpreters, temple staff, and residents of folk villages and areas near historic sites. A total of about 1,600 people will be educated. The program will cover topics such as preventing damage like graffiti and disaster response guidelines. The Cultural Heritage Administration stated, "We will expand education to establish a safety system and minimize blind spots in safety management."
