Barrier-Free Design and State-of-the-Art Sports Facilities
"A Stepping Stone Toward Becoming the City with the Highest Happiness Index"
The "National Sports Center," which is being constructed by Gyeryong City in South Chungcheong Province to support healthy leisure activities for local residents, is accelerating its final construction phase ahead of its official opening.
According to the city on July 4, a total of 19 billion won from national, provincial, and municipal funds has been invested in this project. The center is being built at 1-2 Dugye-ri, Duma-myeon, with two above-ground floors and a total floor area of 2,988 square meters.
The main facilities include a multipurpose gymnasium, a health management room, an aerobics studio, and a table tennis room, providing a variety of exercise spaces for all age groups.
In particular, a barrier-free design has been applied so that everyone from children to seniors can easily use the center. In addition, the facility is equipped with advanced air conditioning and ventilation systems to create a comfortable environment.
The city is currently completing interior work and installing sports equipment, with plans to conduct a trial operation in September and officially open the center in November.
The sports center will offer a variety of programs such as aerobics and fitness, and will also serve as a space for community sports clubs.
Mayor Lee Eungwoo stated, "The sports center is a key infrastructure that will lead a qualitative leap in sports welfare in Gyeryong City," and added, "We will continue to work towards making Gyeryong the number one city in happiness by systematically expanding sports facilities for a healthy and prosperous community."
