Dongkuk CM Presents Strategies Including 'Clean Move'
Dongkuk Steel and Dongkuk CM, affiliates of the Dongkuk Steel Group, announced on July 2 that they have published their 2024 Sustainability Management Reports, disclosing their ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management achievements and future strategies.
In its report, Dongkuk Steel summarized its ESG management system, materiality assessment results, and key achievements in each area under the "ESG Performance" section, focusing on "Steel for Green" as the core value of sustainable management. Major achievements include the development of hyper electric arc furnace technology, the establishment of the integrated safety and health information system "D-SaFe," the status of direct employment conversion for subcontracted workers, and improvements to shareholder return policies.
Dongkuk CM presented its company-wide direction and implementation plans for sustainable management through a framework consisting of "Environment," "Social," and "Governance," under its ESG management slogan "Clean Move, Green Steel." The report also includes details of its participation in the global initiative "Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP)," which it joined last year, strategies to strengthen its color steel sheet brand "Luxteel," and introductions to eco-friendly and market-leading products.
Choi Samyoung, CEO of Dongkuk Steel, stated in the report, "In this era of transformation in the steel industry, we plan to focus on strengthening our competitiveness based on eco-friendly electric arc furnaces, making ESG our core competitive edge." Park Sanghoon, CEO of Dongkuk CM, said, "Through the acquisition of Ajou Steel and other initiatives, we will emerge as a first mover in the global color steel sheet market."
