Until September 30...
Two Courses Available
On July 2, Jeonju City in North Jeolla Province announced that it will operate the nighttime guided tour, 'Hanok Village Sunset Night Guided Tour,' both on a regular schedule and by reservation for approximately three months until September 30.
The free nighttime guided tour is offered in two different courses. Reservations can be made for time slots between 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM, and the tours are held every day, including weekends and holidays, in front of the main gate of Gyeonggijeon Shrine.
Specifically, the courses are: ▲ the 'Hanok Village Course,' which allows participants to experience the evening scenery of Hanok Village, and ▲ the 'Jeonjubuseong Course,' which covers the areas around Pungnammun Gate and Jeollagamyeong. Participants can choose their preferred course when making a reservation.
A highlight of this tour is the opportunity to explore the charm of the Wedding Street behind Jeollagamyeong, including 'Ishigae House,' known as the birthplace of Baduk master Lee Changho, through a guided explanation. Additionally, the tour will feature various stories about Jeonju, such as the tales of the four main gates of Jeonju, the story of Bibimbap, and the history of Chinatown.
Reservations for the Hanok Village Sunset Night Guided Tour can be made by groups of at least three people by calling the Hanok Village Tourist Information Center or the Tourism Policy Division at least three days in advance of the tour date.
The city has been operating summer nighttime guided tours each year to allow tourists visiting Jeonju to enjoy the charms of Jeonju Hanok Village and the old downtown while avoiding the heat. This year, for the first time, a reservation system has been introduced to enhance convenience and allow more tourists to participate.
In addition, the city will also run regular nighttime guided tours that do not require advance reservations, allowing tourists who could not book in advance to join on the day of the tour. Starting July 4, the regular nighttime guided tours will be held every day at 7:00 PM in front of the main gate of Gyeonggijeon Shrine. The tour courses are divided into the Hanok Village Course (Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday) and the Jeollagamyeong Course (Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday). For the regular tours, anyone can participate free of charge by gathering in front of the main gate of Gyeonggijeon Shrine up to five minutes before the tour begins, without a separate reservation.
No Eunyoung, Director of the Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau, said, "We are pleased to provide nighttime activities and attractions for tourists who find it difficult to enjoy Hanok Village during the summer heat," adding, "We hope you will enjoy not only Hanok Village, but also Jeonjubuseong, Ishigae House, and the many stories of Jeonju."
