Novartis Korea Recruits Ambassadors for Chronic Urticaria Campaign

Chronic urticaria is a condition in which urticaria symptoms such as wheals and angioedema persist for more than six weeks. Many patients experience significant challenges in daily life, including sleep disturbances, anxiety, and depression. However, due to a lack of social awareness and limited understanding of the disease, they are often unable to properly recognize or express their suffering. As a result, even patients whose symptoms are not well controlled often remain on existing treatments, making it especially important for patients to actively voice their needs to improve care.

Campaign ambassadors will create and share content on the campaign's social media channels, describing not only the pain and changes in daily life caused by chronic urticaria, but also concrete communication methods for treatment. A specialist in chronic urticaria will participate in the ambassador activities, providing reliable information about the disease and its treatment, and helping patients gain a deeper understanding of their symptoms.

Selected ambassadors will receive support such as lectures from specialists and training in AI-based content planning and production. Depending on their level of participation, they will also receive a certain amount of activity compensation. The activities are scheduled to begin with a workshop in August and will continue for approximately three months.

Anyone who has experienced chronic urticaria firsthand or whose life has been affected by the condition is eligible to apply. Applications can be submitted throughout July via a pop-up window on the "Novartis Korea Chronic Urticaria Sleep Campaign" website or through a Google Form. Final results will be individually notified in early August.

Park Jooyoung, Executive Director of the Immunology Division at Novartis Korea, stated, "This campaign to recruit chronic urticaria ambassadors was designed to help patients deeply understand their own symptoms and create an environment where they no longer have to endure in silence but can speak out." Park added, "We hope that patients' stories will become the starting point for their own recovery, and that spreading the importance of patients expressing their symptoms directly will mark a turning point in the treatment of chronic urticaria."
