The Chungnam Provincial Office of Education announced on June 30 that it held the 1st Susubang event at the Education Training Institute on June 28, targeting elementary, middle, and high school students, as well as parents and teachers.

The 'Susubang' event, which means 'choosing methods for math classes,' was designed to allow participants to select, experience, and share the classes they wanted. Through this process, the event aimed to promote student-centered instruction and simultaneously enhance the teaching expertise of math teachers.

The event featured a variety of programs, including: a pre-event performance by the math club of Chungnam Science High School; a math conversation with the superintendent; public math classes on 20 different topics where participants could choose their preferred teaching methods; collaborative math teaching sessions; 20 hands-on booths linked to math classes; and a seminar on strategies for learning mathematics.

In particular, the 20 class topics included activities such as making line-symmetric mugs using Algeomath, math exploration projects utilizing programming, and ecological sensitivity activities that connect local natural heritage with math classes. The topics incorporated engineering tools, local resources, artificial intelligence (AI), and digital technology.

In the outdoor experience area, 20 creative math activities were offered, including creating personalized characters with line-symmetric shapes, math board games, colorful math experiments, and solving math problems through material design. Examples of integrated classes combining math with art, math with design, and math with counseling were also introduced.

Additionally, EBS instructor Jung Yubin was invited to give a lecture for students and parents on the topic "This Is How You Excel at Math," providing practical learning directions and strategies, which received a positive response.

Superintendent Kim Jicheol stated, "Mathematics is a core discipline for the future society that develops logical thinking and problem-solving skills," and added, "Through Susubang, we will widely share the direction of Chungnam-style math education and continue to support the spread of integrated and creative teaching in the educational field."
