Korea Epson has launched a desktop flatbed UV printer targeting individual creators, small businesses, and the customized goods market.
On June 30, Korea Epson announced the release of its new UV printer, the 'SC-V1040'. The new V1040 features a compact design measuring 699mm x 699mm, making it easy to install even on a small desktop. This allows small businesses to create an efficient work environment without space constraints.
The V1040 incorporates Epson's proprietary 'Micro Piezo' print head and 'Ultrachrome' UV ink. It delivers a maximum print resolution of 1440x1440 dpi and a minimum ink droplet size of 5.5pl, providing delicate and precise print quality. The printer supports a six-color ink system, adding white and varnish to CMYK, enabling vivid color expression even on dark products. By using varnish ink, users can achieve high-gloss, matte, and various texture effects, allowing for the creation of highly differentiated, high-value-added products, according to Epson.
The printer supports media up to 70mm thick and a maximum size of 210mm x 297mm, and boasts compatibility with various materials such as plastic, acrylic, metal, wood, and leather. The automatic print head gap adjustment function detects and adjusts the distance to the media before printing, enhancing print quality and production efficiency. Based on these features, customers can expand into diverse businesses, including printing on USB drives, phone cases, golf balls, keyrings, pin buttons, and even oil painting-textured artworks.
The V1040 is also equipped with features for user convenience. It supports Wi-Fi connectivity and offers intuitive operation through a 4.3-inch color touchscreen control panel. The automatic cleaning system simplifies maintenance. A white ink circulation system minimizes customer downtime (printing interruption time) by ensuring stable production even during continuous operation. In addition, the adoption of a high-capacity 140ml ink pack system reduces environmental impact and management hassle caused by cartridge replacement. An air purification filter is built into the product to manage indoor air quality, providing both safety and eco-friendliness.
