Confirmation Call Followed by On-Site Visit if Abnormal Signs Are Detected
The city of Siheung in Gyeonggi Province announced on June 30 that it will launch the "AI-based Solitary Death Prevention and Response Service," which utilizes artificial intelligence (AI) technology and various data, starting July 1.
This service registers individuals at risk of solitary death as at-risk households through the mobile app "Gyeonggi Ddokdi(D)." It then comprehensively analyzes data such as electricity usage, communication records, and activity data to provide notifications in the form of reports to welfare officials and family members.
If any abnormal signs are detected, the city will first verify the situation through an "AI call" followed by a "monitoring center confirmation call." If the abnormal signs are not resolved, staff from the relevant local administrative welfare center or the monitoring center will conduct an on-site visit to take direct action.
The city will also operate this service in conjunction with "Clova Care Call," an AI care service provided by Naver Cloud. Clova Care Call regularly calls the individuals to check on their overall well-being, including health status, meals, and sleep, playing a role in preventing solitary deaths.
The city plans to establish a systematic network linked to the newly implemented integrated medical, nursing, and care support, providing comprehensive care services. At the same time, it aims to expand its data algorithms by integrating various health information data.
Kim Soyeon, head of Siheung City's Welfare Policy Division, said, "By utilizing AI technology and data, we can proactively support the safe daily lives of single-person households at risk of social isolation," and added, "We will do our utmost to prevent solitary deaths through a sustainable care system."
