Making Safety Education Even Easier with a Smart System
Seongdong-gu in Seoul has revamped the website of the Seongdong Life Safety Learning Center and launched a new online reservation service to mark the center's 10th anniversary.
The Seongdong Life Safety Learning Center (6, Majoro 11-gil) is the first regional comprehensive safety experience center in Seoul, established by Seongdong-gu in 2015. It operates a variety of hands-on programs designed to enhance safety response capabilities against various disasters and accidents that may occur in daily life, such as earthquakes, fires, and maritime accidents.
The center offers customized safety education for different life stages, including cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), self-participation civil defense training, and online non-face-to-face courses. All Seongdong-gu residents aged six and above can use the center free of charge. Notably, in October last year, it was designated as a ‘Children’s Safety Education Specialized Institution’ by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, and now provides mandatory legal training for staff at children’s facilities such as daycare centers, schools, and academies within the district.
Furthermore, on June 23, the official website was newly launched with an integrated online reservation system, allowing users to conveniently access services such as education reservations, schedule checks, and issuance of completion certificates in a smart and simple manner.
Users can access the site via mobile or computer to check education schedules and remaining slots in real time, and can easily make reservations for programs. Upon completing a reservation, a text message is sent with additional detailed information, and completion certificates can also be issued immediately. In addition, users can quickly access the latest safety information and education updates through social networking service (SNS) channels linked to the website.
Meanwhile, the Seongdong Life Safety Learning Center introduced the country’s first ‘virtual reality (VR) flood escape training’ last year. In the second half of this year, the center plans to implement a new VR education program to provide even more immersive safety training.
Jung Wonoh, Mayor of Seongdong-gu, stated, “We have improved the system so that more residents can use the Seongdong Life Safety Learning Center, our district’s representative hands-on safety education facility, more efficiently. We will continue to do our best to ensure that the Seongdong Life Safety Learning Center develops as a core space for community safety and a trusted venue for experiential education.”
