Boryeong City Selects "Sky Bike Electrification Project" as Top Active Administration Case

Boryeong City, South Chungcheong Province, announced on June 26 that it held the "2025 First Half Outstanding Active Administration Case Competition" in the city hall situation room on June 25.

This competition was organized to spread a culture of active administration, strengthen the creative problem-solving capabilities of the public sector, and realize administrative services that citizens can directly experience.

"Active administration" refers to voluntary actions by public officials who demonstrate creativity and expertise to improve unreasonable regulations or address institutional blind spots.

The top prize in this competition went to Boryeong City Facilities Management Corporation for its "Reduce Inconvenience, Increase Revenue! The Success Story of Electrifying the Sky Bike." This case was highly praised for using in-house technology to electrify the Sky Bike vehicles and for introducing a kiosk and online reservation system to enhance convenience for tourists.

It was also recognized for achieving results in various areas, including increased visitor stay time, growth in non-tax revenue, and revitalization of the local commercial district.

The Excellence Award went to: ▲ the External Cooperation Division for "Establishing an Inland Tourism Cluster through SBS A&T Boryeong Media Park," and ▲ the New Industry Strategy Division for "Chungcheongnam-do's Only Excellent Grade in the Local Extinction Response Fund, Seeking Solutions for Regional Extinction."

The Encouragement Award was given to: ▲ the Accounting Division for "Expanding Local Finances through Discovering Omitted VAT Deductible Input Tax and Filing Corrections," and ▲ the Road Division for "Promoting Environmental Protection and Citizen Satisfaction through Recycling Disused Sidewalk Blocks."

In addition, ▲ the Public Relations and Media Office's "First Nationwide Local Government 'Onbook' System Establishment," and ▲ the Energy Division's "Building Welfare Infrastructure through Asbestos Mine Regeneration Project" did not receive awards but were recognized for creativity and collaboration efforts and will be granted "Active Administration Collaboration Mileage."

The city plans to select the public officials behind the outstanding cases as exemplary public officials and to produce card news for each case to share with other local governments and central ministries.

Mayor Kim Dongil stated, "Believing that small changes can lead to great innovations, we will continue to do our best to practice active administration that citizens can truly feel."
