Jeollanam-do to Focus on Fostering Promising Local SMEs

For businesses operating for over 3 years

Jeollanam-do announced that it will be recruiting promising small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) for 2025 over a two-week period until June 30, in order to discover and systematically nurture SMEs with the capability to lead the local economy.

The recruitment targets SMEs that have operated in Jeollanam-do for more than three years and have recorded sales of at least 2 billion KRW in recent years. Companies engaged in manufacturing, manufacturing-related services, or knowledge-based services are eligible to apply.

Jeollanam-do plans to select companies based on various evaluation criteria, including financial status, technological capabilities, and job creation performance.

Once designated as a promising SME, companies will receive substantial management support, including: ▲increased loan limits and preferential interest support when applying for Jeollanam-do SME development funds; ▲additional points when applying for business support programs such as market expansion and export marketing; and ▲exemption from tax audits by Jeollanam-do and municipal or county governments for three years, among other benefits.

Kim Hyungseong, Director of the Jeollanam-do Small and Medium Venture Business Division, stated, "Promising SMEs are a solid pillar supporting the local economy, as well as key players in job creation and strengthening the industrial ecosystem. We will continue to develop detailed policies tailored to each stage of business growth, and serve as a reliable partner so that promising SMEs can plan their futures in Jeollanam-do and thrive in the global market."

Since 2013, Jeollanam-do has designated promising SMEs every year, and a total of 871 companies have been selected to date.
