LS Materials and Marine Solutions to Build Global Offshore Wind Supply Chain

Proactive Response to Offshore Wind Expansion Policy
First Case of Partnership Between Korean Company and Global Port Operator
Expanding Korea's Role in the Global Supply Chain

LS Materials and LS Marine Solutions are set to actively pursue a dedicated offshore wind installation port project in partnership with a global company.

On the 18th, the two companies announced that they had signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Blue Water Shipping (BWS), a global specialist in offshore wind installation ports, to build an offshore wind supply chain based on domestic ports.

This collaboration is a strategic move to establish dedicated port hubs capable of assembling and dispatching offshore wind equipment, thereby responding proactively to the government's "14GW offshore wind expansion by 2030" policy and securing supply chain competitiveness.

BWS is a global specialist operator that has managed more than 10 offshore wind ports in Europe. This marks the first time a Korean company has entered into a partnership with a global offshore wind port operator.

The two companies plan to go beyond simply supplying equipment and will fully implement a "total value chain" strategy covering storage, installation, transportation, and maintenance required for offshore wind EPC (engineering, procurement, and construction). The aim is to resolve bottlenecks at offshore wind ports and expand Korea's role within the global supply chain.

As the first phase, in the second half of this year, one domestic port will be designated as a pilot hub with the capacity to handle 1GW of wind turbines annually. The plan is to then expand to major ports and promote operational standardization.

Hong Youngho, CEO of LS Materials, stated, "This collaboration is a strategic starting point for integrating the entire offshore wind supply chain," adding, "We will strengthen our position in the Northeast Asian offshore wind market."
