Guidelines for Applying Changes in National Standards for Building Insulation Materials in the Field
The Korea Institute of Civil Engineering and Building Technology announced that it will hold a "KS M ISO 4898 Insulation Material Standard Briefing Session" at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 25, in the 30th Anniversary Hall located on the first basement floor of Main Building 1 at its headquarters.
This briefing session will focus on issues related to the revision of national standards (KS) for four types of organic insulation materials used in construction (EPS, XPS, PUR, PF), as well as the changes over time. The session aims to provide practical guidelines for interpreting insulation material specifications and applying standards in the field.
In particular, there will be a detailed explanation of the background and key changes in the establishment and revision of KS M ISO 4898 (Rigid Cellular Plastics - Thermal Insulation for Buildings - Specifications). The session will also cover important considerations for the design and construction of buildings in Korea. In addition, a Q&A and open discussion session will be held to address practical issues and questions encountered by participants in the field.
The main target audience includes design teams from construction companies, architectural firms, building material managers, KS certification and testing agency representatives, and public officials involved in building permits and approvals. The session is expected to help reduce confusion arising from differences in interpretation between regulations and actual field practices, and to enhance clear understanding of the standards.
The lecture will be delivered by Dr. Kang Jaesik of the Korea Institute of Civil Engineering and Building Technology, who will provide in-depth insights into related research and policy trends.
An official from the briefing session stated, "Accurate interpretation of regulations is the starting point for insulation and energy savings. We hope this session will serve as a starting point for industry-wide standardization."
This briefing session is free of charge, and admission is available through advance registration.
