Education and Research Capabilities to Be Enhanced
Soonchunhyang University announced on June 16 that it has been selected as the final recipient in the bio sector for the "Advanced Industry Specialized University Support Project," organized by the Ministry of Education and the Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology, securing a total project budget of 12.8 billion KRW.
This project aims to enhance the competitiveness of national strategic industries by advancing the educational and research capabilities of universities in their areas of strength.
Soonchunhyang University secured a total of 12.8 billion KRW, including 11.6 billion KRW in government funding, as well as matching funds from Chungcheongnam-do, Asan City, and the university’s own contributions.
The university plans to focus its educational and research capabilities on the AI medical convergence specialization field and to actively foster practical talent in the bio sector.
The project will involve seven departments, including the Department of Life Science, Department of Medical Engineering, and Department of Medical Biotechnology, as well as the Healthcare Convergence and Biopharmaceutical majors within the School of Medical and Life Convergence.
President Song Byungkuk stated, "This project demonstrates that Soonchunhyang University is playing a role in connecting national strategic industries with regional industries," and added, "We will actively respond to the needs of industry and the local community through customized educational innovation."
Meanwhile, with this selection, Soonchunhyang University is also expected to be designated as a specialized university for the national advanced strategic industry in the bio sector.
