Lecture on "Happiness Is the Sum of Good Experiences"
to Be Held at Seo-gu Academy
Seo-gu District of Gwangju (District Mayor Kim Ikang) announced on June 16 that Professor EunKuk Seo, author of "The Origin of Happiness," has been invited to give a lecture at the upcoming Seo-gu Academy on June 20. The lecture, titled "Happiness Is the Sum of Good Experiences," will take place at 2:00 p.m. in the Deulbul Hall of the Seo-gu District Office.
Professor Seo, widely recognized as a happiness researcher, was named one of the world's top 100 happiness scholars and previously served as assistant professor and associate professor in the Department of Psychology at California State University. In 2023, he received the Academic Award from the Korean Psychological Association. His book "The Origin of Happiness" gained significant popularity among the public by challenging conventional beliefs about happiness.
The author explores the essence of happiness by asking various questions, such as, "Is happiness really a matter of mindset? If survival and reproduction are the ultimate goals of humans, why does the birth rate keep declining? What should we do to experience more happiness in our daily lives?"
Lee Hojun, head of the Happiness Education Division, said, "We hope this lecture will provide an opportunity to view happiness from a new perspective, and we look forward to seeing small but certain joys added to the lives of our residents."
Meanwhile, Seo-gu Academy has been inviting top figures from various fields?including writer Yoon Taeho, singer Sean, broadcaster Kim Jedong, writer Ko Myunghwan, and poet Na Taejoo?to offer residents a higher level of cultural experiences.
