The Lotte Scholarship Foundation announced on the 16th that it is inviting submissions for the 2nd Shin Kyuk-ho Charlotte Literary Award.

The Shin Kyuk-ho Charlotte Literary Award was established last year to honor the late Honorary Chairman Shin Kyuk-ho, founder of Lotte Group, for his deep affection for literature and to carry on his literary spirit.


This year, submissions will be accepted in three categories?novel (Goethe literature), poetry (Pushkin literature), and essay (Pi Cheon-deuk literature)?until September 30. The foundation plans to select and award a Grand Prize and an Excellence Prize in each category.


Any South Korean citizen aged 19 or older is eligible to apply. For the Grand Prize category, applicants must submit a single-volume book published between 2023 and 2024 by registered mail. For the Excellence Prize category, applicants may submit original works that have not yet been published or registered, either by registered mail or by email.


The total prize money amounts to 90 million won. Three Grand Prize winners will each receive 20 million won, and six Excellence Prize winners will each receive 5 million won. The awards ceremony is scheduled to take place in November, following the submission and judging process.


A representative from the Lotte Scholarship Foundation stated, "Last year, over 3,000 works were submitted for the inaugural competition, generating a positive response in the literary community," adding, "We hope that even more emerging writers and aspiring authors will participate with outstanding works this year."
