Sale Falls Through, Leading to Airline Bankruptcy
Announcement Made Before Takeoff... Passengers Left 'Stunned'
Silver Air, a regional airline headquartered in Florida, abruptly filed for bankruptcy and canceled all of its flights.
According to USA Today on June 12 (local time), the company, located in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, posted on its website, "We regret to inform you that as of today, June 11, 2025, we have ceased operations."
The statement continued, "Silver Air entered into a transaction to sell its assets to another airline holding company as part of a restructuring during bankruptcy proceedings. Unfortunately, the holding company has decided to discontinue Silver's operations."
The airline operated in Florida, the Bahamas, and the Caribbean. The company advised, "Please do not go to the airport. All credit card purchases can be refunded through your credit card company or travel agency."
Silver Air's bankruptcy was finalized after a potential buyer decided not to provide financial support for the airline's operations during the sale process under Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings. Passengers holding tickets will receive full refunds for all amounts purchased with credit cards, as stated by the airline.
