Incheon to Maintain Normal Tap Water Supply During Namdong Water Purification Plant Maintenance June 17-20

The Incheon Metropolitan City Waterworks Headquarters announced on June 10 that it will halt operations at the Namdong Water Purification Plant from June 17 to 20 to carry out replacement work on the inlet valve of the purified water reservoir and to clean the absorption well.

The city plans to implement a water supply system conversion for all areas of Namdong-gu and Dong-gu, as well as parts of Bupyeong-gu and Seo-gu, which are supplied with tap water from the Namdong Water Purification Plant. During this period, alternative water supply will be provided from the Bupyeong, Gongchon, and Susan Water Purification Plants.

Although tap water will be supplied as usual during the water supply system conversion, some high-altitude areas in Namdong-gu (Guwol-dong, Ganseok 3-dong, Mansu 5-dong) and Michuhol-gu (Juan 4-dong, Gwankyo-dong) may experience decreased water pressure during peak usage hours.

The city has notified residents to cooperate in conserving water and advised that if there is a shortage of drinking water, bottled tap water branded as 'Incheon Haneulsu' can be obtained from the local administrative welfare centers.

Additionally, the city will follow guidelines to open valves and focus on managing sections where flow rate changes are significant, as temporarily cloudy water may occur during the water supply system conversion. Preemptive hydrant flushing and water quality monitoring will also be conducted to ensure the stable quality of tap water.

Park Jeongnam, head of the Incheon Metropolitan City Waterworks Headquarters, stated, "We are thoroughly preparing in advance to prevent any inconvenience to residents' daily lives due to the water supply system conversion," and added, "In preparation for temporarily cloudy water, we ask that apartments, schools, and other facilities close their inlet valves and, if cloudy water persists even after flushing tap water for a certain period, report the issue to the Michuhol Call Center or the relevant waterworks office."
