The Presidential Office announced on the 9th that all five heads of divisions at the Presidential Security Service who were involved in the December 3 Martial Law Incident last year have been placed on standby.

Kang Yujeong, spokesperson for the Presidential Office, stated during a briefing at the Yongsan Presidential Office on this day, "During the 12·3 insurrection, the Security Service obstructed the execution of lawfully issued arrest warrants and search and seizure operations by the court, thereby causing social confusion and conflict." It is reported that the Presidential Office convened a personnel committee on this day to place the five division heads of the Security Service on standby.

Spokesperson Kang explained, "The leadership of the Security Service refused to follow lawful instructions and took retaliatory personnel actions against executives who cooperated with the execution of arrest warrants," adding, "A national institution that should serve the entire public effectively became the private military force of former President Yoon Sukyeol, which provoked outrage among many citizens."

The Presidential Security Service plans to operate under an acting leadership system for the time being until further personnel changes are made.
