Kim Yongtae: "President Lee Jaemyung Proposed Advancing Common Pledges... Consensus Reached"

Proposal Made at Presidential Inauguration Commemorative Luncheon

Kim Yongtae, Emergency Response Committee Chairman of the People Power Party, stated on June 4, "President Lee Jaemyung has proposed advancing common campaign pledges, and I agree with this proposal."

After the disbandment ceremony of the election campaign committee held at the People Power Party headquarters in Yeouido that day, Kim met with reporters and said, "There was a suggestion to pursue the common campaign pledges of candidate Kim Moonsu and President Lee Jaemyung from the election period."

Kim explained that this proposal was made at the '21st Presidential Inauguration Commemorative Luncheon' held at Sarangjae, the National Assembly in Yeouido, Seoul, on the same day.

He continued, "The ruling and opposition parties have failed to properly address livelihood issues, which has disappointed the public. This time, we have reached a consensus to swiftly advance the less contentious issues first."

At the luncheon, Kim also addressed President Lee, saying, "I hope you will successfully lead the significant tasks of national unity and state reform in the future."

He added, "I believe that, above all, to bridge the deep divide between political camps for national unity, it is important not to do what the other side fears most. In this regard, I am deeply concerned about the amendments to the Public Official Election Act, the Criminal Procedure Act, and the Court Organization Act, which the ruling party intends to process at tomorrow's plenary session."
