The Chungnam Office of Education and the Jeju 4·3 Peace Foundation announced on the afternoon of June 4 that they had signed a business agreement in the education office's conference room to strengthen history and human rights education.
At the signing, Superintendent Kim Jicheol and Chairman Kim Jongmin agreed that both organizations would share human and material resources to support education on the independence movement history of Chungnam and on the Jeju 4·3 Incident.
In particular, they pledged to develop and distribute a variety of training and experiential programs for teachers and students, and to take the lead in providing efficient history and human rights education.
Superintendent Kim Jicheol said, "Through this business agreement, I hope that the educational community in Chungnam will have a valuable opportunity to document and remember the Jeju 4·3 Incident," adding, "We will stand in solidarity and move forward together for peace, history, and human rights."
