Let's Strengthen Busan Port's Global Competitiveness... BPA Signs MOU with KMI

Busan Port Authority (BPA, President Song Sanggeun) signed a memorandum of understanding with the Korea Maritime Institute (KMI, President Cho Jeonghee) on June 2 to establish a global hub port and develop strategies for the sustainable growth of Busan Port.

This agreement was promoted to address the instability of global logistics supply chains, which has been accelerated by factors such as COVID-19, the Red Sea crisis, and the US-China tariff war. It also aims to concretize future strategies for Busan Port through the cooperation framework between the two organizations.

Through this agreement, BPA and KMI have agreed to cooperate in various fields, including: establishing strategies for global logistics networks; creating carbon-neutral and eco-friendly ports; sharing information on the development of future routes such as the Arctic route; cooperating on smart port policies and technologies; and supporting overseas expansion of export companies.

The two organizations also plan to build a cooperation framework to strengthen policy research and implementation capabilities for the development of related industries.

Song Sanggeun, President of BPA, said, "Cooperation with KMI is more important than ever to respond swiftly to the rapidly changing external environment and to foster Busan Port as a global hub port. We will actively share the knowledge and experience accumulated by both organizations to enhance Busan Port's global logistics competitiveness."
