Busan Office of Education to Hold Zero Waste Environmental Experience Festival with Over 1,000 Participants

The Busan Metropolitan Office of Education (Superintendent Kim Seokjun) will hold the "Zero Waste Lifestyle Environmental Experience Festival" at 9:45 a.m. on June 7 at the Nolimaru Sports Field in Busanjin-gu. The event, organized in recognition of Environmental Education Week, is expected to attract over 1,000 participants, including students, faculty, parents, and citizens.

The purpose of this event is to strengthen environmental education for carbon neutrality and to promote a culture of environmental action in everyday life.

The festival will open with a performance by the Namseong Elementary School Environmental Orchestra. This will be followed by the sharing of environmental education cases from ecological environment education research and pilot schools, as well as carbon neutrality leading schools. In total, 31 experience booths will offer a variety of hands-on environmental activities.

The main experience programs will include activities such as "Carbon Diet for One Meal," "Making Coffee Grounds Keyrings," "Making EM Mud Balls," "Natural Dyeing with Fresh Flowers," and "Making Eco-friendly Shampoo Bars," all designed to connect environmental practices with daily life.

The "Busan Youth Environmental Committee," consisting of 40 middle and high school students from the Busan area, will host an environmental talk concert and the "Environmental Golden Bell" quiz event, and will examine Busan's environmental issues from a youth perspective under the theme "A World Without Waste."

Superintendent Kim Seokjun stated, "This event is significant in that our Office of Education and the local community are working together to respond to the climate crisis and to foster a culture of carbon neutrality in practice."
