Yeongju City in North Gyeongsang Province will host the "Family Academy - Parenting Education" program to help foster healthy relationships between parents and children. The sessions will take place at 2:00 p.m. on June 24 and June 28, 2025, at the 148 Art Square of Kyungbuk College.
This program is designed to enhance empathy and communication within families and to strengthen the role of character education at home.
The first session, on June 24, will feature Dr. Choi Seongae, an expert in emotional coaching, who will give a lecture on "Empathy and Communication Skills for Happy Couples and Happy Children." The second session, on June 28, will be led by Lim Youngjoo, a specialist in parenting education, who will share practical communication techniques under the theme "Self-Esteem Communication between Parents and Children."
Registration will be open online or by phone starting June 9, 2025, and participation is limited to the first 120 applicants. Each applicant may register up to two people, and those who submit questions in advance will have the opportunity to receive answers during the Q&A session following the lectures.
Previously, in May 2025, Yeongju City successfully held a couple’s education lecture, inviting Professor Lee Hosun, a psychological counselor, and Dr. Kim Byunghoo, a psychiatrist. In addition to those who registered in advance, a large number of on-site participants attended, demonstrating strong interest from citizens.
Citizens who attend all four lectures, including both the couple’s education and parenting education sessions, will receive a certificate of completion.
Kim Hojung, Director of Seonbi Talent Development at Yeongju City, stated, "The role of parents is more important than anything else for the healthy growth of children," adding, "This will be a great opportunity to learn practical communication skills."
On June 13, 2025, at 7:00 p.m., the city will also host the "2025 Yeongju Character Concert" at the Yeongju Culture and Arts Center, featuring an eight-member ensemble led by comedian-turned-conductor Kim Hyuncheol. The event is expected to offer both inspiration and laughter to citizens through a stage that combines classical music with witty commentary.
