Democratic Party Dominates Honam, People Power Party Sweeps Yeongnam... Lee Leads in Chungcheong and Capital Region

The pattern of the Democratic Party dominating the vote in Honam and the People Power Party sweeping the vote in Yeongnam was repeated in the 21st presidential election.

As of 2:02 a.m. on June 4, with 89.35% of the votes counted, Lee Jae Myung, the Democratic Party presidential candidate who is expected to win, received overwhelming support in Honam, while Kim Moon Soo, the People Power Party candidate, garnered dominant support in most areas of Yeongnam.


Lee received virtually all the votes in Gwangju (84.84%), South Jeolla (86.07%), and North Jeolla (82.83%). These figures are similar to those in the 20th presidential election (Gwangju 84.82%, South Jeolla 86.10%, North Jeolla 82.98%).


Kim showed strength in Daegu (69.17%) and North Gyeongsang (67.05%), and also secured a majority in Busan (52.22%) and South Gyeongsang (53.50%). However, in Ulsan, Kim narrowly edged out Lee with 47.88% of the vote compared to Lee's 42.41%. In the previous presidential election, People Power Party candidate Yoon Suk Yeol won a majority in all three regions: Busan, Ulsan, and South Gyeongsang.


The voters of Chungcheong supported Lee. Across the region, Lee led Kim in Daejeon (Lee Jae Myung 47.77%, Kim Moon Soo 41.80%), South Chungcheong (47.23%, 43.99%), North Chungcheong (46.91%, 44.14%), and Sejong (54.81%, 34.63%).


In Seoul, the largest battleground, Lee led with 45.51%·while Kim received 43.85%. In Gyeonggi, Lee had 50.95%·and Kim 39.67%. In Incheon, Lee secured 50.38%·compared to Kim's 40.22%, maintaining a relative advantage in these areas.
