On June 2 (local time), Leishman finished tied for third place among 84 players in the qualifying round held in Maryland, USA, thereby earning one of the four available tickets to the tournament. Of the 25 LIV Golf players who attempted to qualify, only two secured spots in the main event. Carlos Ortiz (Mexico) had already clinched his US Open berth last month in the qualifying round held in Dallas, Texas, USA.
As a result, a total of 11 LIV Golf players will compete in this year's US Open. This group includes the two qualifiers, last year's US Open champion Bryson DeChambeau (USA), Jon Rahm (Spain), Cameron Smith (Australia), Tyrrell Hatton (England), Joaquin Niemann (Chile), Phil Mickelson, Patrick Reed, Brooks Koepka, and Dustin Johnson (all USA).
In contrast, Sergio Garcia (Spain) and Bubba Watson (USA), whose five-year US Open exemptions from their Masters victories had expired, attempted to qualify but failed to secure a spot in the tournament.
